I heart Jason Wu

{Image via Get Janet}

And no, it's not because he dressed the first lady.  I've been a fan of his work for many seasons now, and an even bigger fan of how he conducts his business.  After working in this Devil Wears Prada industry for several years, I've learned it is rare to find a designer as talented, and yet humble as Jason Wu.  After turning down offers of book deals and reality TV, Wu chooses to focus on carefully growing his label.  He addressed his recent fame and success in an interview with British Vogue saying,

"I don't want any of the fame bit to go to my head.  I'm only ever as good as my last collection."

Fun in the Sun

I'm off for a little fun in the sun, for a work/vacay trip to Arizona and San Diego.  Back in a few days, hopefully a bit more bronzed and relaxed.

Crime of Passion or Crime of Fashion?

This just in:  Project Runway's most controversial contestant, Kenley Collins was arrested yesterday for allegedly assaulting her ex-fiance with her cat!  That's right, her cat!  He was sleeping and she attacked him with her cat, a laptop, several apples, and water.  She is currently sitting in a Brooklyn jail, charged with six crimes, including 2nd and 3rd degree assault, as well as a criminal possession of a weapon (i.e. the cat).

Personally, I think her knock off of Alexander McQueen was the true crime:

Mortgage vs. "It" Bag

(via Glam Chic)

The king of accessories is at it again!  For those of you who can afford to splurge a little (who am I kidding, a LOT!) you can immortalize your Chanel shopping experience with Karl's latest creation, a leather "shopping bag".  In true Chanel fashion, it's available in black, white, and light pink for $1525-$2995.  Fabulous, no?

California Dreamin...

Sorry for the lack of posts this week as I have been moving across the country (and have had no internet).  We are still unloading boxes, but here's a little preview of my new living room!  I'll show you more rooms as we finish them!

Oh Marc, why do you tease me?

With clothing this beautiful I may have to sell a kidney.

Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2010 Collection

With a heavy hand of 80's nostalgia, Marc has once again put forth a beautifully decadent collection.  Thank god for Paris fashion!  Finally some life, color, and optimism following a very dark and somber New York fashion week.   I have to say, the pink draped dress is one of my favorites of the season.

I'm not going to lie...

I wanted to hate it.

{images via the Cut}

And yet.   I can't.  Because it's actually quite good.

A little boring, and certainly "borrowing" a lot from other designers (Roland Mouret anyone?), Victoria Beckham's Fall 2010 Collection was surprising better than expected.  She actually made the jump from Sweet Face and Lohan leggings to the Elizabeth and James successful side of celebrity fashion lines.   Perhaps the reason her sophomore collection was acclaimed over other celebrity "designers" is that she makes clothes you could actually see her wearing.  She features clean lines with beautiful seaming, slim figure flattering silhouettes, and recession-friendly colors that can easily fit in most women's wardrobes.

Street Style

You know that "I-just-threw-something-on-as-I-was-running-out-the-door-and-I-don't-even-realize-how-perfectly-put-together-I-am" look?

Well, Sarah Rutson has mastered it.

p.s. These pants are on my Spring must-have list!

Dear Coat...

Can you please come live with me?  I promise to wear you to uber-fashionable soirees, never take you out when it rains, only use nice wooden hangers, and dry clean you regularly.  I'll even dedicate a whole corner of my closet to you.

Quote of the Day

“It’s only slightly less dangerous than covering wars... In Milan, it was about the same as covering Vietnam.”

-Morley Safer of "60 Minutes", on covering Anna Wintour during Fashion Week

Oh Salvatore Ferragamo.. How do I love thee?

Let me count the ways...

1. You are consistently beautiful season after season.

2. You collections are flawlessly constructed, with clean lines, flattering color palettes, and figure-friendly silhouettes.

3. You are never "trendy".

4. You use Italian craftsmanship.

5. Your accessories are to die for!

6. Your pieces are as perfect on a 50 year old as they are on a 20 something.

That about sums it up.

P.S. This skirt is dying to live in my closet!!!

Happy Ralph Lauren Thursday!
